The front yard batches and delivers ready-mix concrete. The back yard takes broken concrete in, crushes it, pulls the steel out and grades the rock. What leaves the back yard is what goes into the front yard’s drum.

Every design is proportioned to the job, not pulled off a shelf: exposure, placement method, finish and schedule all move the numbers. These are the six we run every week, and each one is submitted on a mix design sheet for your engineer before the first truck leaves the plant.

Give us the strength, the exposure, the cubic yards and the pour date and a mix design sheet comes back the same day — with the recycled-aggregate percentage your specification will carry already written on it.

That right‑hand column is the only one another plant can’t print. It is rock we crushed ourselves — and the higher the design strength, the more conservative we get, because a recycled mix that misses its break isn’t recycling, it’s a callback.

Slump measured at the point of placement per ASTM C143. Air content per ASTM C231. Cylinders cast per ASTM C31 and broken at 7 and 28 days per ASTM C39. Low‑shrinkage, integral‑color, lightweight and flowable‑fill designs on request.

Batch houseBatching

The load is right before it leaves the yard.

A mix design is a promise on paper. What lands on your grade is whatever the plant actually weighed. So we weigh it, print it, and hand you the numbers.

Every material is weighed on its own load cell against a batch computer, and the cells are calibrated on schedule with the certificates on file at the plant. Moisture probes in the sand and rock bins read free water as the material is drawn and take that water back out of the batch, so a 5 in slump is a 5 in slump whether the stockpile has been rained on since Tuesday or baked dry since Friday.

ASTM C94/C94M batching tolerances. Actual batch weights print on your ticket, not a summary of them.

Design water is held back at the plant. If a load needs water on site we add it once, before discharge, up to the design water‑cement ratio, then turn 30 revolutions at mixing speed per ASTM C94 — and the addition is printed and signed for. Water past that is your call, and it comes off our strength warranty. We would rather send a second truck.

Cylinders are cast per ASTM C31, cured, and broken at 7 and 28 days. Break sheets go to whoever signed the ticket and to the engineer of record, not just into our file. Wash water is clarified in a closed circuit and rebatched, and every aggregate we batch — quarried or recycled — is graded to the same ASTM C33 envelope. Same test, same paperwork, either source.

DispatchDelivery

The clock is our service area, not the map.

ASTM C94 gives a load 90 minutes or 300 drum revolutions from batching to complete discharge, whichever lands first. Everything about how we schedule works backwards from that number.

Tell us your placement rate in cubic yards per hour and we set the interval between trucks to match it — a pump crew at 40 cu yd/hr and a wheelbarrow crew at 6 do not get the same spacing. Hot weather we chill the water and ice the batch per ACI 305; cold weather we heat the water and accelerate per ACI 306, and we will move your start time to protect the pour. Every truck is GPS‑tracked and the ETA is texted to whoever is running the pour, so nobody stands in a form waiting. Washout comes back to our yard, not onto your slab, unless you want it on site.

And whatever comes back in the drum at the end of the day is washed out into our own reclaimer and crushed with everything else in the back yard. Returned concrete is not a loss here. It is next week’s aggregate.

Bring us your broken concrete.

We accept clean demolition concrete and returned ready-mix at the gate, crush it, pull the steel out and grade the rock back into certified aggregate. Nothing we accept goes to landfill, and everything we accept is on its way to a stockpile the front yard draws from. Ledger RC‑4412 started here.

Tip floorWhy it matters

The world is built on concrete. Then we throw its value away.

Concrete is the most consumed man-made material on Earth. When a structure comes down, most of that mass is dumped or downcycled, while quarries blast fresh rock for new aggregate and mines dig fresh ore for new rebar.

Both ends of that equation are broken, and both are fixable with the same plant. The rock in demolished concrete is still rock. The steel inside it is still steel. Our job is to send both back into structural service, engineered to each project's specification, not downgraded to road base.

We can't yet recycle the cement itself; nobody can at scale. But aggregate is roughly two-thirds of concrete's volume, and the rebar is, pound for pound, the most energy-expensive material in the structure. Aggregate is where the tons are; the recovered steel is where the avoided carbon is.

A jaw crusher does the heavy work: slab-sized pieces go in the top, a reciprocating jaw plate breaks them against a fixed one, and everything leaves at minus 1½ in. Crushing also strips the rock from the rebar, which is exactly what the next station is waiting for. Water mist at the throat keeps dust at the source.

This is the move that makes the loop close. A suspended overband magnet hangs across the conveyor; as the crushed burden passes underneath, every piece of rebar, wire and tie lifts clean off the belt onto the magnet's own cross-belt and is thrown to the steel bin. The rock never stops moving. Typical ferrous recovery is 98% and better, with a head-pulley magnet and a hand-pick station catching the stragglers.

The steel-free rock rides onto a triple-deck vibrating screen: three stacked mesh decks shaking at eight times gravity. Big stones stay on top, each deck below catches a finer cut, and anything still oversized loops straight back to the crusher. The sized rock lands in certified stockpiles: ¾ in structural, ⅜ in pea gravel, and manufactured sand (No. 4 minus). The graded recycled aggregate goes straight into the batch plant. Gate A opens, gate B follows, the scale settles, and the whole weighed charge drops into the turning drum, blended with cement and reclaimed wash water. The truck that leaves can carry concrete with up to 100% recycled coarse aggregate, matched to the project's specification and traceable on the ticket back to the building it used to be. Every bar we pull is ore that stays in the ground.

Pound for pound, rebar is the most energy-expensive material in a demolished building. Making new steel from ore means mining iron, mining coal, and running a blast furnace. Remelting recovered rebar in an electric arc furnace skips all three.

The steel we lift off the belt is sheared, baled and sent straight to the mill, where it becomes new rebar, beams and mesh with no loss of strength. Steel is one of the only materials on Earth that recycles forever.

Three grades of rock. One source: the last building.

Every stockpile carries a gradation certificate and an EPD data sheet. Sampled and lab-tested every 500 tons against the same envelopes as quarried stone. These three piles are the front yard’s shopping list — sold on their own by the ton, and charged straight into the drum by the truckload.

Recycled aggregate isn't our end product. New concrete is. The crushed, cleaned, graded rock is charged straight back into the ready-mix drum, so the next pour is made of the last building.
